Matt and Geek & Sundry weren't able to get the rights to the names of the Gods (though some names are public domain being actual mythological figures like Tiamat, Bahamut, Asmodeus, etc). So this was the compromise.

In the show itself they use the actual names, with Sarenrae being the patron deity of the group's cleric Pike. Because Critical Role had been a home-game before it was a show they were using Pathfinder and that was the deity she went with. When they got the show they transferred over to 5e and Matt began using the 'Dawn War Pantheon' aka the 4e pantheon, but they kept Sarenrae.

As for the Raven Queen, yeah she is easily the most involved deity in the actions of the party (though *spoilers* they also end up meeting Pelor, Sarenrae, and Ioun). The party's rogue is multi-classed into paladin and is a paladin of the Raven Queen and as *again spoilers* everyone in the party has died at least once (most twice, one three times!) they have gotten to know the Raven Queen pretty well.

- ChrisAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02552329464284787254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-422181426312081107.post-69411425508792213242017-08-29T17:16:20.106-07:002017-08-29T17:16:20.106-07:00Ryan Herbert: No prob! I mean, just look at Nusemnee's tenets:

It is never too late to seek redemption.

True heroism does not come from good deeds. It comes from doing good when it matters.

Nobody is perfect. Those who seek to be perfect will fail. It is not a shame to fail, and it is not a waste to try.

Open your heart to possibilities. Never give up hope.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-422181426312081107.post-4008558806251396292017-08-17T20:33:49.648-07:002017-08-17T20:33:49.648-07:00Thanks for this review!
